Every ministry and program reflects the uniqueness of Christian living through obedience to the Bible and the power of the Holy Spirit. We are a caring group of people committed to glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ through obedience to his word, and to helping other believers as they grow in their discipleship. Jesus taught, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," (John 8:31b, 32). It is our sincere desire that every individual come first to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and then to that level of discipleship in which he or she becomes truly free.

One significant aspect of the fallout from the social revolution of the 1960s and ‘70s in this country, concerns the place which obedience occupies in our collective psyche. Culturally, obedience has been de-emphasized and even undermined. Were this untrue, the phrase, “civil disobedience,” could never have been coined. Without going into a protracted discussion, suffice it to say that the Bible teaches civil obedience, and knows nothing of civil disobedience unless and until secular law compels disobedience to God.
As a consequence, our society -- and sadly many children of God influenced by our society -- cannot fully appreciate the benefits of obedience. It is tempting to seek an illustration of God’s attitude toward obedience, in the expectation of human parents for their own children. However, sin and the author thereof, have so exerted their influence that comparatively few parents maintain a Biblical and Godly understanding of what they should expect of - and demand from - their children. Consequently, one must first learn how God, Himself, values obedience and then extrapolate from that a pattern for his or her own parental relationships.
God’s revelation of Himself to humanity presents a Father figure who both expects and rewards obedience. And while many parents have perhaps abandoned their expectation that their children obey their instructions, never mind their will, God, as Heavenly Father, has not nor will He. It is worth stating here that, in contrast to popular sociological models, God uses both positive and negative reinforcement techniques in His Fatherly efforts to guide His children.
One great benefit of obedience, which to some might be considered an intangible benefit, is fellowship. For the sake of this discussion, fellowship can be described as “peaceful relations.” Every child has experienced tension and ill-ease between himself and his parents. This is the antithesis of fellowship, unpleasant and uncomfortable. In such times fellowship is broken. Disobedience always breaks fellowship, and should induce a corresponding discomfort, serving to compel reconciliation and restoration of peaceful relations. It is God’s task and promise, to make the disobedience of His children increasingly uncomfortable so that we come running back to that place where we were at peace with Him. That place is called obedience, and it is a place of joy and delight for both Father and child.
